Jumping ahead a few years from the last chart, and you can see there has been some absolutely massive changes. For a start, it’s down 10 tracks and is just a Top 30 now but more importantly, it is now divided into a Compact Disc chart and an Album/Vinyl chart. A lot of the same releases on each chart but also quite a few differences. Oddly enough, on the surface it appears heavy metal fans were slower to adopt the new medium with only Appetite for Destruction appearing in the CD list but it also appears in the vinyl list along with G’N'R Lies, And Justice For All, and Hysteria. I bought my first CD player in ‘88—a Yamaha that gave me no end of trouble with a disc tray that wouldn’t open properly—and the CD version of Metallica’s, And Justice For All, was one of the first CDs I bought…and I still have it.

It’s not all bagpipes and kilts in Scotland

Bought this one the same day as The Killgirls album. Whereas the previous album is more goth and industrial, this one is very much a throwback to 80s synthpop but I love all sorts of music, and this album still gets played regularly. Alas, another artist who only seems to have released one album on Bandcamp, and then disappeared into the ether.

Came across this album while sauntering through Bandcamp and immediately bought it. That was back in 2012 but I have no idea if the band is still going. Their official website is no more, and the domain is now home to an indie animated movie, so that doesn’t bode well for their continued existence.

Anyway, this is White Bus from their album, Animal.

Well shit! I balls’d that one up! I commented on the first SAFM entry that I couldn’t compare it to the 5AD chart of the same week because I didn’t have one but speculated that they’d be much the same. And then there’s this bloody chart, which is from the same week as the last 5AD chart I posted and gives us a clear comparison between the two stations.
